What The Sims 2?
The Sims 2 is a strange game to try on and review on. As in my experience on playing The Sims 2, there are a lot of different ways that i look at it and play it. The only thing that’s i certain is that this series is one of a kind. I can honestly say that I don’t think I “got it” when the original game was released. I was only watching my friend next door playing it from night to morning, sometimes even got late to go for work, as he can be on-time to go work with his character in this game.
The most obvious addition is the new engine that its using. It was an easy decision for them to make the game look more realistic but not so graphical realistic but game-wise, you can try learn things from it . Not only did it help them keep up with the technology but more importantly helped them create an experience with a lot more personality and flair than The Sims was ever capable of supplying. All of the things that can be found in The Sims 2 are amazingly detailed and vibrantly colorful (almost some colors that i like most), but the real charmer is the hugely long list of interactive animations, the reactions of your character and other character inside the sims and the environment is like it was happening that you almost forgot that you are actually playing the game and you are not living in it.
The Sims 2 is a brilliant simulation by Maxis( not the Maxis Malaysia) but also a wonderful of life in general. And that’s what you have to remember when playing this game. It isn’t about completing a goal of saving the world or completing a quest or fighting any monster. Not reaching the top rung of the corporate ladder doesn’t mean you failed. A dirty house, a lousy neighbour next door and toilet always busy, this doesn’t mean its the end of the world. This game is about experimentation and creativity and a time to have your own life in it where you somehow can control, whether you’re setting up relationships or building a 12 storey high house. Maxis is selling some amazing tools to create all kinds of things from architecture to full blown stories and it’s time you got the chance to be an Architech :). It’s up to the you to take those tools and use them however they fit your taste.
